Excellent character development

Normally I seldom leave reviews, but this book had no reviews at this point, and it is definitely good enough that it deserves some.

Best:

excellent character development, especially the narrator, as well as all the other central characters, good, neutral or evil. Seldom one-dimensional, the characters are usually fairly well rounded.

Good:

The effects of a nearby nuclear explosion seem to have been well researched, and the effects of this over a long period of time seem likely and believable.

Poor:

The scenario suggested that caused WWIII is extremely unlikely, and threw me out of the story for a few pages. But this is a very peripheral part of the book, and one bad small note shouldn't destroy your appreciate of an otherwise fine performance.

Great PA Read!

I'd never heard of this book before, and I'm a newbie when it comes to Post Apocalyptic fiction, preferring my End of the World to be filled with Zombies...

I loved it, plain and simple... it's not an action-packed book where things are blowing up every five seconds, your hero is a Bruce Willis who shoots his way out of spots and baddies swarm our heroes with overwhelming odds... the story centers around a small group of survivors and their interaction - good and bad - as they try to figure out what has happened in their world. The characterizations are realistic and you feel for these people at the end.

I'm looking forward to reading more from this author!

More, more and more PLEASE!

I honestly don't know where to start with this review. I just knew I had to write one. Upon downloading a sample of this book, I was immediately drawn into the story and the characters lives. This book is about one mother's struggle to ensure her family and friends survival. It resonated deeply with me and I could relate to her on many levels. This isn't a "how-to" on survival and preparedness. It is the story of one unconventional family and their troubles and times immediately after a nuclear war. The war itself is basically background information. I would give this story a 5 based on plot/ storyline alone, except for a few of the characters decisions. However, there are a few grammar and spelling issues which don't really affect the overall enjoyment of the story. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good read. My review title says it all best though. I anxiously clicked the "next page" button and was devastated to notice my progress bar was at 100%. That is not to say it was a "cliff-hanger" ending... Just that I could've kept reading about these characters for a long long while.
